Iced Coffee

Region: Global
Brewing Time: 5-10 minutes (for hot brewing)
Total Time: 10-15 minutes
Indulgence: ☕️ (Light & Refreshing)
The Story:
Iced coffee is simply hot-brewed coffee that has been cooled and served over ice. Its popularity is universal, especially in warm climates, as a quick and refreshing way to get a caffeine fix. The key to a great iced coffee is brewing it double-strength to prevent it from becoming watery as the ice melts.
Prep Time 5 minutes
Brewing time 10 minutes
Total Time 15 minutes

Ingredients

  • ½ cup coarsely ground coffee (use 2x your normal amount)
  • 2 cups water
  • Ice

Equipment

  • Coffee maker of choice
  • Pitcher or container for cooling

Method

  1. Brew coffee using your preferred method (drip, pour-over, French press), but use twice the amount of coffee you normally would for the same amount of water.
  2. Immediately pour the hot coffee into a pitcher filled with ice to "flash chill" it, preventing oxidation and preserving flavor.
  3. Alternatively, let the coffee cool to room temperature before refrigerating.
  4. Serve over fresh ice.
  5. Pro Tip: For the best flavor, avoid letting hot coffee sit on the counter for hours to cool. Flash chilling or rapid cooling in the fridge preserves a brighter, less stale taste.
